simply tradition....We just bought our bridal set over xmas since the sales were soo amazing. I saw alot of silver and white gold which is what I got and like alot better. Platinum is popular too. I think it changes over the years...whatever celebrity couples start buying then they seem to start making that.

Flowers are treasured for their ability to add romance and elegance to any space; yet, many brides on a budget believe it will be too expensive to create the memorable floral arrangements of their dreams. However, with a little creativity and willingness to try something new, you can easily purchase all of the flowers for your wedding for $200 to $500.

The most affordable route is to order your flowers wholesale through an online provider. The flowers are extra fresh and are shipped next-day from the grower to your front door. For peace of mind, it can be a good idea to place a small order prior to the wedding to ensure that the flowers are exactly what you want (color, size, etc.) and that they are shipped as expected. Consult our directory to find a flower provider with good recommendations. It is also a good opportunity to practice making bouquets, corsages, and table arrangements. There are many “how to” books available on floral arrangements in addition to the articles available on this site. Be sure to consider fillers, such as spray roses, for table arrangements. I paid for my wedding dress in full & tonight on the news heard the bridal shop shut its doors, what do I do?

I am completely distraught! It was hard to do, but about a month ago, I put my final payment on my 1400.00 wedding dress. Tonight, I was watching the news and they said the bridal shop that I bought my dress from has shut its doors! There was a note on the door that due to the economy the store is closed. I was horrified! I'm still in shock, but we called the non-emergency line for the police and they said they have been flooded with phone calls- not only can they not find the owner, she has disconnected her cell phone and her other phone's voice mailbox is full. I'm not sure what to do at this point- how can I even go about beginning a lawsuit if they can't find her? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Oh, you poor thing!
If you paid by credit card, contact the credit card company and ask them to help you reverse the charges or file a charge back against the store.

Are there other bridal salons in the area? Chances are they will try and help you get your dress if they carry the line. You may have to pay them for the dress, but the manufacturer sometimes will work with another store in the area and ship them the dress if your dress hasn't shipped yet to the store that ordered your dress. The manufacturer really wants you to have your dress because they don't want it in their inventory and they don't want to get bad press when it wasn't their fault.

Contact the manufacturer of the dress yourself to see if the dress has been shipped yet. They may or may not want to work directly with you, but most will do their best to give you help and advice.

Who is the manufacturer? If you have your order info and send me your location, I can see if any of my friends in your area who have bridal shops can help you.

I would also contact the TV station and ask them for help. Most TV stations have an investigative reporter who will help you.

Although alcohol is served at most weddings, there are some people who think it is a terrible idea, usually due to religious beliefs or past struggles with alcohol. This is an area where sometimes a middle ground can be found between the two sides. Maybe your mom is worried less about people having a glass of Champagne for toasting and more about the younger generation getting drunk and rowdy. Perhaps you can agree that only wine will be served at the reception, and then the newlyweds and their friends can have an after party later. Of course, if your mom is paying for the wedding and insists on an absolute ban on alcohol, there is not too much you can do about it.

Scenario No. 2: Your mom wants to see you wear a traditional long sleeve wedding gown with her strand of pearls. This is not to say, however, that your mother's suggestions should not be graciously accepted. If possible, find a way to use at least a few of her ideas, even if they may not be the way in which you would have done it. And if your parents are giving you a hard time about the cost of your wedding, feel free to answer any snippy, "Well how much did that cost?!", with a pleasant, "Oh, not too much.".

With these tips in mind, you should be able to handle most wedding issues which crop up in a graceful manner. In most cases, as long as your mom can see that you respect and value her opinion, she will be more accepting when you decide to do things your own way. After all, she wants you to be happy on your wedding day.
